Osaka is the Kansai region's cosplay center. Den-Den Town in Nipponbashi is the city's electronics + otaku district — the Akihabara of the west. The cosplay scene here is more concentrated, more connected to Kansai's distinct dialect and humor, and more independent than Tokyo's heavily commercial pipeline. Regional cons (Osaka Comic Con, Maid in Japan, ContenT Tokyo Osaka extension) run a parallel calendar to the Tokyo majors.
