A decade ago "fancam" meant K-pop concert recording. Then anime conventions adopted the form. Then cosplayers started performing booty-dance choreo inside their character's costume on the con floor. What came out is Twerkhub's fastest-growing playlist — cosplay fancam.

What defines the style.

• Convention floor — recorded live at Anime Expo, Sakura-Con, FF46 Taipei, CosForce, PF40 Thailand, Nagoya Auto Festival. Not in a studio.
• Handheld single-take — no cuts, no edits, no post. One camera, one pass, raw audio.
• Character integrity — the dancer stays in costume; the choreo references the character (NIKKE commander bow, bunny-girl hip thrust, sexy-nurse clipboard-check, etc).
• 4K close-focus — camera stays tight on the performer; the ambient crowd provides energy but doesn't steal focus.
• Short (30s–90s) — the entire choreo fits a TikTok-length format.

Why the style exploded.

Three things converged 2022-2024. First, 4K phone cameras made raw con-floor recording watchable. Second, TikTok/Reels made 30-second choreo the default length — which is exactly how long a con-floor performance lasts. Third, cosplayers realized they could translate their character into movement without losing the photo-op aesthetic. Now every major Asian con has a dedicated fancam corner.
