Kate Knaub (also Kate Knaubl in transliteration) is the Moscow scene's most visible independent dancer — the one who refuses to ride a single studio brand. She trained at MDC NRG in 2020-2021, took blocks at TWERKIT and Velvet Young in 2022-2023, and from 2024 has been operating solo, freelancing between studios for individual classes rather than committing to a roster.
Her Goody "Брокколи" choreography (139K views) is the reference cut — visible enough to be cited as MDC-school technique, loose enough that no one mistakes it for an MDC ensemble piece.
Three marks of a Kate Knaub piece. (1) Looser hip phrasing. Where Лада Гоцци hits the off-beat with metronomic precision, Kate plays around the off-beat — a quarter-beat early, a quarter-beat late. The result reads as more "musical" and less rehearsed. (2) Variable framing. Sometimes wide static (MDC convention), sometimes a handheld follow-cam she shoots herself, sometimes outdoor footage. The framing is the song, not the studio. (3) Russian-language tracks. Most of her pieces are in Russian — Goody, Скриптонит, Хаски — which limits international reach but deepens local cultural specificity.
Strongest cuts: Goody "Брокколи", her interpretations of Скриптонит, and a 2024 series on Хаски tracks. English-language work is rare and tends toward Doja Cat or Rico Nasty — slow tempo, hard hits.
The Moscow scene over-indexes on studio brands — MDC, TWERKIT, Velvet Young. The independent half of the scene, where dancers freelance between rooms and develop their own voice, is harder to surface. Kate is the cleanest version of half two. She's the bridge between the prestige studios and the solo bedroom-frame creators like Sugaarrbbaby.
