Bio

Yurgenis grew up in Caracas, Venezuela. She trained in salsa and bachata from age 8, picked up reggaetón at 15, and by 19 was teaching her own classes. The Venezuelan political-economic situation pushed her — like many artists — to establish a second base in Medellín around 2020. Since then she's split time between the two cities, and her style merged the two scenes.

Her Ghetto Kids ft Malo y Darell "Baja" choreo dropped in March 2021. Within 6 months it hit 1 million views. Current count: 1.2M views, 22K likes. That video is the single most-viewed piece of reggaetón floor work on our main archive and one of the defining cuts of the entire latinx twerk category.

Technique signature

Three marks of a Yurgenis piece: (1) she dances solo — unlike K-dance's ensemble tradition, her choreos are one dancer, full frame; (2) improvisation on the dembow off-beat — she catches the rhythm's ghost notes, not the downbeats; (3) full floor vocabulary — hands-and-knees work, wall work, low squats, high kicks. Nothing stays upright for long.

The feeling is: this dancer can hear the song. When the track has a breakdown, her choreo breaks too. When the bass drops, her hips drop. She doesn't count — she listens.
